Sam Mann - Precision Fitness

Welcome Friends,

Like every other gym owner I love New Year’s resolutions, everyone is motivated to get off the couch and get in the gym. The sad part about New Year’s resolutions is that so many people don’t complete them. So many people don’t make it past week two or three. In fact, the corporate gym world has used our inability to stay on track as a means to create an income without providing a service.

Before I left the corporate world to start Precision Fitness I was trained to over sale the max capacity of our club by 30% or more due to the fact that 38% of gym users pay for a membership for a year and only go for the first two weeks. As a business owner I resolved to make a difference not just an income. The question is how do I convince the customer to stay motivated to reach their goals? How do I get them to consistently exercise when they don’t enjoy it? How do I help them change their lives permanently by changing their nutritional intake.

Well after 10 years as a personal trainer here is my take on the best way to make small long term changes in your life that will have profound effects.

ADDRESS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM - So many of us try to avoid large nutritional issues and take care of small ones. For example people always excuse eating out by saying, “well I had a salad”. As if eating fried fish, or a baked potato is somehow going to be ok because you had a salad. I think most of us know which bad habit is the worst. So stop toying with making changes that aren’t that big of a deal. Pick your worst habit and commit to changing it this year.

BE ACCOUNTABLE TO SOMEONE - Who is going to know when we haven’t stuck with our program and achieved our goals. Get connected to someone; get a trainer, a coach, a friend, or a family member just make sure they keep you on track.

DON’T BE UNREALISTIC WITH YOUR EXPECTATIONS - There is no long term success in being involved in a program you can’t sustain. On average each one of us is going to live into our 70’s so we need a life plan not a three week plan. It is unhealthy to constantly yoyo with our weight and health. Do not be fooled by marketing and TV shows that tell you the only way to be successful is to exercise 5 days a week for hours. This will work in the short term but it can’t be maintained and thus should not be started.

This New Year, don’t just resolve to make changes in your life. Create solutions that will help you make long term change. I have learned over the years that I won’t train everyone forever, however, it is always my goal that if a client leaves my program they take something with them. If they only learn to change one habit but they change it forever then that’s a win in my book. Don’t be a statistic and don’t waste your money, be apart of a plan the has SOLUTIONS not just RESOLUTIONS.

"Thank you Scott and Sam!" ~Jerry Carlson

My name is Jerry Carlson and I am 47 years old. I have struggled with my weight since graduating from the University of Idaho in 1985. I became overweight after my career started as an insurance agent. I started to live a sedentary lifestyle. My only physical exertion involved recreational sports which didn’t keep me in shape.

About three years ago a friend told me about Precision Fitness and what it did for him. I decided to give it a try half-heartedly at first, and I dropped a few pounds.

After a life shattering event last February I decided there was nothing to lose. A few weeks later I started to see results. I began working out on my own as well. Strength training combined with proper nutrition advised by my trainer at every appointment led me to lose 100+ pounds and reduce my body fat in half!

If you take this program seriously and follow the nutritional advice, you can’t help but lose weight. I have become more balanced physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. What else could I ask for?

BEFORE: Body Fat 41.2% - Fat Mass 140.08 - Weight 340 lbs
AFTER: Body Fat 21% - Fat Mass: 50.4 - Weight: 240 lbs!!

Is The ECONOMY DIETING FINANCIALLY

budget

As a personal trainer and gym owner, it seems as though the economy has gone on a diet. Was the money rationing started by the real estate market, the banks, or just the combination of overfeeding borrowing and underfeeding making new money? I don’t pretend to know, but the financial famine has made its way to the gym industry.

Many people look at paying a trainer, or paying for a membership as a luxury. When things get tight then fitness gets cut from the budget. Precision Fitness has been no exception to the economic woes, however, three things have helped our business to grow and succeed in spite of the struggles. First thing, we change people’s lives so regardless of the cost people are going to find a way to keep us involved in their life. People need motivation, people need nutritional guidance, and most importantly people need positive healthy results.

The second thing we do at Precision Fitness is change the way we market and offer our services. We all need to make sure that the current slump in the economy doesn’t push us to devalue our products and services. What we must do is find a way to change lives and get our clients results but charge the customer less. This means going the extra mile to get involved in the community, this means truly making every customer number one, this means taking a whole new look at customer service.

The third thing that has helped us redefine how we connect with our old and new customers is the internet and our website. Precision Fitness has made our website more interactive, we’ve added a monthly newsletter, and we made it more personal. We want our clients to be able to get to know us before they ever enter the building. Our message to our clients in this time of economic struggle is, “WITHOUT U, THERE CAN BE NO US”. We all need each other, we all need to keep our business local, and we all need health and fitness.
